I just watched the film – The Beach (2000) again last night. It had been some years since I last saw it, but remembered I really liked it when it was originally released. This movie still has some great cinematography and perhaps is one of director Danny Boyle’s most underrated films. The thing that I found the most interesting of course was the movie’s soundtrack. A great collection of tunes from 1999 and 2000 from such electronic artists as Moby, Unkle, and Underworld. One of my most favorite Orbital songs was created specifically for this project. They took Angelo Badalamenti’s cinematic orchestral arrangements and Leonardo DiCaprio’s movie dialog quotes and made an incredible electronic, progressive trance tune. In fact this piece of vinyl still remains in my stack of most favorite records. So without further ado…
