DJ MB

BIOGRAPHY

In 1994, Mb launched the first live mix show to air on the WSU college campus radio station, KZUU. He brought the influence of the west coast sound to the eastern plains of Washington and found that “if you play it, they will listen”. He found residencies in several local spots and ran listener parties all over town. In addition to playing music, MB worked closely with the local club scene as a consultant on various projects to construct the DJ booth and club layouts for several venues. After 4 years in Eastern Washington (USA) it was time to move on to bigger and better things yielding much more opportunity – Mb hosted a perfect end-cap to his career in College radio and the local scene by organizing one of the largest dance music events ever experienced in that region of the US.

After settling down in Seattle, MB was blessed to host the 2nd highest rated show on the internet radio station Groovetech while continuing to play one off’s and club nights with the likes of Carl Cox, Doc Martin, Cass, Diesel Boy and AK1200. In the summer of 2000 MB took a trip to Ibiza for the closing parties and spent over a month getting acquainted with the international scene and all it had to offer a bloke based out of the Northwest region of the US .

Heading to London and back to the White Isle for NYE 2001 found MB spinning records with the likes of Andy C, Dave Phillips, Alex P, Roger Sanchez, and The Stanton Warriors. Heading on to the White Isle eventually landed MB on the decks for several late nights at the infamous Manumission hotel and the juicy Sunset Café. Eventually, 2001 in Ibiza closed out with the sounds of MB blasting from the speakers at the infamous Bambuddha bar closing party.

After returning from a trip across the Atlantic, United State of Consciousness – the Seattle based promo group – recruited MB to take part in a collective of top local Dj’s to act as resident DJ’s and eventually represent the largest promotional group in the Northwest. This endeavor launched a career in music that found MB integrating his sound with the likes of Tall Paul, Dave Clarke, Dave Ralph, Josh Wink, BT, Carlos Da Silva, Translucent, Gabriel & Dresden, John Aquaviva, Uberzone, and many other top acts.

With a diverse range in musical tastes and the ability to adapt his tastes to the appropriate environments, MB was invited to produce the audio backdrop for the W Hotel sound system in Seattle. In his role as the audio architect for the in-house system, MB sets atmosphere and ambience through an audio backdrop that consists of electronic music that ranges in energy level to match the mood and setting. In addition to creating the environmental soundtrack for the hotel, MB is also the resident Dj and host of the only weekly electronic music event in the W hotel lounge. The weekly event, entitled “SIP”, showcases both local and international talent providing a rare and unique musical experience for both the artists that play there as well as the attendees. “The greatest thing about the W lounge is that DJ’s are given the chance to play the music that they don’t play on a dance floor. The W lounge contains a mature and musically intelligent audience in a sophisticated environment which presents our DJ’s with complete creative freedom; it’s always a wonderful musical experience in the lounge”.

With the evenings at the W Hotel continuing to be a popular evening spot in Seattle and increased time spent learning more about production; it’s safe to say that MB is on the rise. He’s looking forward to utilizing what he’s learned in his experiences with music and spreading a sound that he’s passionate about. Above all, “my dream is to produce a sound that I’m I can be proud of”. MB’s most recent release is a collaboration with Dj/Producer Carlos Da Silva – The track is entitled “Mitches Surf Shop” and is out now on Dirty Blue Records.
