Charts, Charts, Charts (3/20/11)

Well its that time again – my quarterly study of music trends, playlists, charts and popular songs. Here are some of the charts that I have viewed recently and their respective Top 10s. Even though it has been a few months since my last charts post, it is interesting to note that the Top 10s have changed but that the previous songs are still hanging around in the expanded versions of these charts… Read More »

G-Funk Legend: Nate Dogg – R.I.P.

I never enjoy writing posts like this, but I feel that the hip-hop world has lost an amazing and under-appreciated artist… Nate Dogg was very influential in popular music. It can be argued that he is one of the most important hip-hop singers and collaborators in history. I am lucky that I can say I saw him live in concert twice: Once at the grand opening of Experience Music Project in 2000 and then a couple months later in the Tacoma Dome for the Dr. Dre – Up In Smoke Tour. The Hood Internet – Trillwave

The Hood Internet x Mishka – TRILLWAVE by hoodinternet

So it has been awhile since I have heard some good mash-ups. Usually you could maybe find one decently made track out of a dozen… The other day, I heard It Was A Rainy Day (Ice Cube vs CFCF) on another blog and had to check out who made the track because it was the best mash-up tune that I have listened to recently! Well it turns out the artists were The Hood Internet. This Chicago-based production duo are mash-up kings who create blends and remixes of hip-hop (from the mainstream to the underground) with indie rock.

Check these guys out and download their mixtape!
